Our Tomorrows Start Today
The purpose of this Blog is to bring a fresh awareness to the value and importance of God's "prophetic vision" and what part it has to play in "Today".Today is the most important day of our life. What we do today effects our tomorrow. History, records the events of yesterday but it's what we do today that effects our future.
In the heart of God "Today" has great significance! The salvation He provides through the Lord Jesus Christ is available "Today" and people are strongly exhorted to repent of sin and in faith turn to Jesus Christ, accepting and receiving Him as their personal Lord and Savior, today. None of us has any guarantee of tomorrow and if we procrastinate in making this "salvation decision" we might not have the opportunity again. There simply might not be any tomorrows for us. The honest evangelist pleading with sinners to come to Christ "now", "today" while they still have the opportunity might seem to some as being "pushy", yet in the world of realism "today" may just be the individuals last day, their last opportunity. 2 Cor. 6:2 -For God says, "At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation. (NLT)
It's quite clear the importance God is placing on "today" as it pertains to embracing His Son Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross in order to pay in full the price to save people from their sins. In the heart of God salvation is not something you put off until tomorrow. It's something that needs to be done "today". Procrastination is not in God's vocabulary!
There are other very important areas of life where "today" has great significance to the Lord as it pertains to realising His "prophetic vision" in a personal way. Israel's temple had been destroyed by the Babylonians. 70 years had passed and in the vision of God it was time to rebuild and restore. This mammoth project was interrupted due to pressure and opposition from their enemies. During this fifteen to twenty year laps the people had virtually lost the vision. They had become so involved with "life in the world" they had all but forgotten that there was the spiritual vision of God that required their involvement if it was to be realized. Hag 1:2 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD."
It seems that this generation of Israelites were placing priority on the natural rather than the spiritual. The great thing about this story is, the people did "catch the vision". They did embrace God's "prophetic vision". It's important that we understand that God's "prophetic vision" involves what we choose to do "today". Today is when we must "catch the vision" for what God purposes to do in and through the lives of His people and how He has chosen to affect the nations through them.
At present, in North America, I'm convinced that we're just not getting it. We're not seeing it. In general we don't see God's "prophetic vision" for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ or our own life. It's time to "catch the vision". It's time to become fully engaged in God's "prophetic vision" for today. Jesus has done so much for us and it's time we showed our appreciation and excess more fully our worship (worth - ship) of God through thoughts and actions. How much worth are we really placing on Jesus' sacrifice to save us, and on God's love for us? Let's choose to "catch the vision" today, now!
